Why Felted Soaps?

felted_soapAside from the fact that felted soaps are very pretty there are many good reasons to felt a soap.  I have listed a few of them below.

1.) Felted soap makes a great lather.

2.) It holds all the “goop” so the soap lasts longer

3.) The wool provides a gentle exfoliant.

4.) Wool is naturally anti-bacterial so no yucky smell.

5.) It’s not slippery so it’s easy for little hands to hang on to.

6.) Once the soap is gone the wool that remains makes a gentle scouring pad.

7.) When you’ve had enough fun with it the wool goes back to the earth.

The soaps that I felt are made by Alberta Natural Products.  They are handmade of 100% natural ingredients.  The soap is felted with hand dyed superfine merino wool and tied with a hand dyed silk ribbon. They come in a variety of colors and scents. The make a very pretty and affordable gift.

About Cindy

I have been an artist as long as I can remember. Starting with needle arts at a very early age, then moving on to garment construction as a young adult. While raising a family of boys I worked from home making interior decor items and gradually became involved in decorative arts. I worked for many years painting murals and decorative elements in residential and commercial spaces. I also spent a number of years working as a visual merchandiser for a small group of stores. Now I have come back to my first love and have taken up the needle again. This time in a whole new way. I am able to use the skills I have accumulated through out the years in an area of creative endeavour that is new to me and extremely fulfilling. I hope you will enjoy taking this journey with me as I tame the fluff into stuff to create one of a kind sculptures, home decor and wearables.
